Experienced restaurant manager KOKO.
We are a husband and wife team, Joe and Koko.
Koko is an experienced restaurant manager having worked at a number of prestigious Japanese and European restaurants both in London and overseas. Koko is also a talented designer and created the restaurant interior with her own vision and according to a Japanese aesthetic emphasising subtlety, modernity and understated elegance.
MLADEN “JOE” VIDAKOVIC is the executive chef. Joe is a classically trained chef and has worked in some of London’s finest kitchens alongside some of the UK’s most celebrated chefs.
Our aim is to spread our infectious
love for our Katsu and Teri

love for our Katsu and Teri
over to you.
Finally, Joe decided to move away from life as a head chef in the world of haute cuisine to start his own business and to focus on more casual dining but always with a refined edge.
Joe developed a fascination with Japanese cuisine and has mastered certain dishes and techniques under the tutelage of native chefs.
Before opening, we spent months living and travelling in Japan sampling dishes in restaurants and in people’s homes, discovering family recipes and formulating ideas for the menu at Tanakatsu®.
We fine-tuned these dishes in our pop ups and now we hope to bring them to a wider audience at our permanent site.
Camden, Farringdon,and now is Angel!
Prior to opening Tanakatsu® in Angel, we ran successful pop ups first in Camden Market and then in Farringdon where we were able to showcase our menu and establish a loyal customer base.
The name Tanakatsu® is a play on words and combines Koko’s surname “Tanaka” with the word “Katsu”.
